Madingley Hall drone video
A sunset drone video for Madingley Hall
Madingley Hall is one of the few venues owned by Cambridge University to offer year-round access for events of all kinds. From company conferences to weddings, the stunning location provides the perfect backdrop to a memorable day.
Twelve Noon Films was lucky enough to spend a summer evening filming the building and its gardens to create a bespoke drone video that the Madingley Hall team could use to promote the space.
Drone shoots can be tricky to organise – you're always at the mercy of weather patterns and light. We opted to shoot during evening golden hour to give us maximum time for location scouting. Pre-production included checking the sun's position on the shoot day and mapping out angles where light was likely to hit the building behind any obstructing trees.
We used the DJI Mini 3 Pro in 60fps D-Cinelike with Polar Pro ND-CPL filters. The form factor of the Mini 3 Pro meant we could move location around the site easily, keeping kit to just one bag. Our three batteries were bolstered by an FX Lion V-mount to deliver additional charge - giving us the option for a fourth flight at the end of the day.
Footage was copied to – and edited from – a Samsung T7 Shield SSD. When shooting at golden hour it's important to have fast offload of SD cards, and the T7 enabled us to copy source files quickly.
