We’re driven by stories that matter. Stories that shine a light on people creating positive change in their communities. And we specialise in branded documentary production. Sanctuary, our film about Unorthodox Boxing in Scunthorpe, UK, is a powerful example of how a documentary-style approach can connect audiences emotionally while supporting a cause.
This film started with a conversation. Dom met Tiffany Skinner in early 2025 and learned about her mission: to create a gym exclusively for women and children. A space where survivors of trauma could rebuild, where young people could find confidence, and where children could explore their strength.
It was clear from the first meeting that this wasn’t just a boxing gym. It was a sanctuary. And it was a story worth telling.
Chosing Branded Documentary Production
Documentary filmmaking begins with a spark: a person, a place, or a cause that just won't leave your mind. And documentary-style video for business is an incredible storytelling tool.
Boxing is traditionally seen as a male-dominated sport, but Tiffany and her team are rewriting that narrative. Inside this gym, boxing isn’t just about competition. It’s about healing, empowerment, community, and mental health.

The women and children who welcomed us into their world shared stories of bullying, trauma, single parenthood, and overcoming disability. Each one highlighted the power of safe spaces to change lives. That was the story we wanted to tell – why places like this matter, and what happens when people feel supported and seen.
Our Approach to Documentary-Style Video
From the outset, we knew the filmmaking process needed to match the ethos of the gym itself: respectful, collaborative, and human.
We kept the crew small – just a director and DOP to capture what was happening, without overwhelming the environment. Trust was everything. We weren’t there to “cover” the gym. We were there to listen. To give voice to the women and children who were already telling their own stories, every day, through their training. Our sit down interviews were designed as conversations with respect and space running all the way through.
Production
Sanctuary was shot on a mix of a Sony a7siii with Atomos Ninja and a RED DSMC2 Gemini, paired with Blazar anamorphic lenses to give the film its cinematic texture. This hybrid approach gave us both flexibility and depth – ideal for a project that moved between quiet, intimate interviews and high-energy training sessions. We were in and out in just one evening.
Sound was captured with a Hollyland Lark Max Duo and a RØDE NTG3, ensuring clarity in environments that ranged from noisy gym floors to quiet, reflective conversations.

Post-production was completed in DaVinci Resolve, where colour grading helped us balance grit with warmth – the same duality we found inside the gym itself. We also made use of Topaz Labs to enhance softer anamorphic footage, and leaned on Soundly and Music Vine for sound design and music.
The end result is a film that feels raw, authentic, and cinematic: a faithful reflection of the people and place it represents.
The Impact
Sanctuary isn’t just a short documentary. It’s a showcase of why places like this matter.
For Unorthodox Boxing, the film provided visibility and helped articulate their mission to a wider audience. That’s the power of branded documentary production – it blends storytelling with strategy, giving organisations a tool to build trust, credibility, and emotional connection.
For us, it’s also a reminder of why we do what we do. Passion projects fuel creativity, but they also reaffirm our belief in the role of storytelling: to inform, to inspire, and to spark change.

Sanctuary is about boxing, yes—but it’s also about so much more. It’s about the courage to step into the ring, literally and metaphorically. It’s about people finding confidence, healing, and belonging. And above all, it’s about the importance of creating sanctuaries, wherever they are needed.
We’re proud to have made this film. And we’re even prouder to have shared the stories of the people who inspired it.
Whether you’re a charity, a brand, or a business, commissioning a documentary-style video can humanise your message and inspire your audience to take action.
